The exhibition Parola di bambini by Basel-based artist Hinrich Sachs brings together works from an ongoing series that has been evolving for many years. The starting point is always an everyday observation: a child playing, using an object, but projecting something else onto it—for instance, when a child swings a piece of sausage and says “ding-dong.”
Each of these objects is treated by Sachs as an independent work, often realized in cast form, always painted, thereby translating the fleeting gesture into sculpture and shifting the invented game to a new level of meaning.
The Estate is pleased to present a selection of these works, which explore the language of children—an intersection of play, imagination, and communication.
During the course of the exhibition, a text by Giovanni Carmine, Director of Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, will be published.
The Estate in Mesocco is located about 20 minutes by foot from the Mesocco Stazione or Posta bus stops and is open at all times.
